Frances Christine Mohelnitzky


Frances Mohelnitzky was born January 3, 1885 in Wisconsin.
She was raised in Milwaukee and modeled for Gimbals there. 


She was married to Arthur Kussman on May 2, 1917 at St. Vibiana Cathedral, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.


Frances, who began acting in movies at about age 14, was a movie star for 30 years in Hollywood, California. She played the part of the mother in "Daddy Long Legs." In "Three Cheers for Miss Bishops," she square-danced. She was in a lot of movies with Mickey Rooney.


Note:  3 movies were made called "Daddy Long Legs" (from the sentimental novel about a May-December romance):

1) 1919 Daddy Long Legs, directed by Neilan, with Mary Pickford & Mahlon Hamilton, 7 hrs, First National.
 

2) 1931 (or 1930) Daddy Long Legs, directed by Santell, cinematographer Andriot, with Janet Gaynor & Warner Baxter, 73 min., Fox.

3) 1955 Daddy Long Legs, with Leslie Caron & Fred Astaire, musical.

Frances died at age 82 on January 1, 1968 in Los Angeles, California. She is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery, Slauson Ave, in Los Angeles.
