The Lehner family has their origins in Schömersdorf, Bavaria, Germany.
The earliest known Lehner is Andreas Lehner; he died in 1862 in Schömersdorf.
In March 1887, Bartholomew Lehner, the grandson of Andreas, immigrated to America. On the same ship was Bartl's future bride Frances Sturm from Braunsried. They were married in 1889 and settled on a farm in Sauk County, Wisconsin.
